1-2 JULY:  JUBILEE CONFERENCE TO CELEBRATE 50 YEARS
 
The Irish Church Music Association in partnership with the National Centre for Liturgy conducts a two-day conference to mark 50 years of the Association in Ireland.  The conference will take place on Monday, 1 July and Tuesday, 2 July in St Patrick's College, Maynooth, Co. Kildare.  The theme of the conference is Rejoice and Sing - Celebrating 50 Years of Irish Church Music - Remembering, Celebrating and Looking Forward.

Presenters will include Fr Michael Joncas, Artist in Residence and Research Fellow in Catholic Studies, University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota, Professor Lizette Larson-Miller, Professor of Moral and Pastoral Theology at Huron University College, Ontario, Fr Thomas Whelan CSSp, Karen O'Donovan, Philip McKinley, Fr Martin Browne O.S.B.  The conference will include a celebration of Morning and Evening Prayer and conclude with Eucharist. 

 
2-5 JULY:  FROM CONFERENCE TO SUMMER SCHOOL
 
The celebration of Eucharist on Tuesday, 2 July to conclude the conference is also the opening event of the Summer School.  The theme: Rejoice and Sing continues throughout the summer school with Fr Michael Joncas as the guest director for the week.  Workshops during the week will be presented by Dr John O’Keeffe, Bernard Sexton, Ephrem Feeley, Fr Liam Lawton, Sr Marie Dunn CHF, Órla Barry, Ciaran Coll, Regina Deacy, Dominic Finn and Fr Columba McCann O.S.B.

Music Workshop in Longford



On Saturday, 3 February 2019, the diocese of Ardagh & Clonmasnois held a workshop for those involved in the ministry of music.  Dr John O'Keeffe, Director of Sacred Music, St Patrick's College, Maynooth gave the workshop based on his newly launched collection Feasts and Seasons 2.  Up to 50 people attended.


Canaimis-Ceol don Aifreann and Celebrating 50 Years of the Irish Church Music Association was launched for the second time at this event.  The first event took place in Holy Cross College, Clonliffe on Thursday, 31 January, 2019.

Celebrating 50th Summer School of the Irish Church Music Association

The Irish Church Music Association celebrates its 50th Summer School July 2019.  The celebration will begin on Monday, 1 July and conclude on Friday, 5 July in St Patrick's College, Maynooth.  Part one of the celebration will being with a two day conference, 1-2 July and continuing into the Summer School Tuesday evening, 2 July.  The two day- conference will be held in association with the National Centre for Liturgy.  The guest director is Fr. Michael Joncas, well known to all Irish Church Musicians.

The theme: Rejoice and Sing to celebrate 50 years of the Summer School will remember, celebrate and look forward to the future.

To mark the beginning of the 50 years celebration a special launch will take place on Thursday, 31 January in Holy Cross College, Clonliffe Road, Dublin 3 at 7.00 p.m. This event is held in conjunction with the launch of Canaimis - Ceol don Aifreann.

Canaimis - Ceol don Aifreann has been prepared by the National Centre for Liturgy, in association with the Advisory Committee on Church Music of the Bishop's Conference of Ireland.  This anthology of music for the Irish Church is a resource for all involved in music ministry and for all who gather to celebrate the Eucharist.

With the publication of An Leabhar Aifrinn Rómhánach, translating the third edition of the Missale Romanum, this anthology brings together, for the first time, a number of well.known Mass setting. suitably adapted, as well as mjusic composed since the new translation was approved.

The anthology will be launched by Veritas Publications in Holy Cross College, Clonliffe Road, Dublin 9 on Thursday, 31 January 2019 at 7.00pm.

New 10 Week Course at the National Centre for Liturgy - February 2019

The National Centre for Liturgy began its 44th academic year on 24  September 2018.  In the first semester it successfully offered parishes a ten week course Leading the Christian Assembly in Public Prayer with 24 people participating in this course. 

The new semester, beginning on 4 February 2019, offers parishes the opportunity of participating in another 10 week course: Sacraments: Parish Celebrations on Life's Journey.


This new course sets out to offer participants an overview of Christian Marriage; of Christian initiation for Children - their baptism as children; the Order of Penance and of the Order of Christian Funerals. This course will also look at some other elements such as the ministry of hospitality and welcome.
 
The course consists of 10 two-hour sessions and will begin on Wednesday 6 February, at 10.00 a.m. in the National Centre for Liturgy, St Patrick’s College, Maynooth.
 
Following class each day, there is the Celebration of Eucharist in St Mary’s Oratory at 12.05.  Participants are welcome to take part.
